Southern Raiders

Journal Entry: Fri Jul 18, 2008, 1:21 AM
  • Mood: Cheerful
  • Listening to: myself squealing over Southern Raiders
  • Reading: my Bio book =____________=;;
  • Watching: The latest ZEFID lesson (which is AWESOME btw :D)
  • Playing: nothing
  • Eating: already ate..
  • Drinking: water
I just finished watching the Southern Raiders episode as have many others and while I was browsing some of the journal entries regarding this episode, I noticed that some people are still worried if Kataang might be endgame. At first I was too because there were some things in that episode that SEEMED like it was supporting Kataang when in actuality it wasn't. THE FOLLOWING CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR THE SOUTHERN RAIDERS EPISODE:

First and foremost we all saw the AWESOME Zutaraness in this episode as predicted by many Zutarians lol. My heart jumped out of my chest when Zuko saved Katara in the beginning of the episode and I screamed so loud I'm pretty sure the entire neighborhood heard me lol. But apart my overjoyed heart, I noticed several things that had me worried at first:

1) When Aang tells Katara he understands her pain and gives her that whole "forgiveness" speech and Zuko was basically making fun of him and supporting Katara. At first I was confused and I thought 'what if this is foreshadowing for a Kataang ending?' but then I realized Aang's the AVATAR. It's his DUTY to spread wisdom and peace throughout the world. He's SUPPOSED to be a spiritual leader for the rest of the world. What kind of a spiritual leader would he be if didn't tell Katara to let go of her hate and forgive the man who murdered her mother? She would be no better than that murderer if she chose revenge over forgiveness.

2) Second thing that worried me is when Zuko was agreeing with Katara. I know this seems like a positive thing but the fact that he didn't understand why she was angry at him and then agreed with her decision to get revenge kind of worried me because one of the main things we Zutarians argue is that Zuko understands Katara better than anyone. But then after watching this episode, I realized that Zuko DOES understand, it's the reason why he defended her intentions. It's why he disagreed with Aang's wisdom, just as Katara did. Because he understands the pain of losing a mother. Aang doesn't.

3) And that brings me to the topic of Zuko asking Sokka why Katara is angry with him. It's not that Zuko isn't aware that Katara is hurt by his actions in Ba Sing Se. Of course he is! The girl gave him a death threat for goodness sakes! Lol. But in all seriousness, he has been doing all these good things and helping the Gaang mainly to gain Katara's trust because Zuko said it himself in this episode, "I care about what Katara thinks of me". He wanted to SHOW her that he's changed and not just SAY it. Remember this saying? "Actions speak louder than words"? So he's been letting his ACTIONS be his silent apology to Katara, but clearly she wasn't pleased which is why Zuko was confused. He didn't understand why she was STILL so angry at him even though he's "proved" his worth.

4) "I was the FIRST one to trust you!". I think EVERY Zutarian has engraved this line into their memories forever. It finally happened. The "talk" we've all been waiting for. Although it wasn't as lengthy as we all probably expected it did show something interesting. When Zuko told her that everyone else trusts him but her she spoke that famous line, but what's INTERESTING about it is that she says this in a way to remind him that SHE was the first one to trust him. Kind of like she wanted the credit. I have my own ideas of why she said it the way she said it but I'm not going to elaborate any further until the finale.

5) So Aang was right. Forgiveness IS the right thing to do. Katara learned this lesson while going through an emotional roller coaster and even went as far as discussing the conflictions of emotions with Aang (with Zuko standing behind her but that's besides the point :XD:), but did she tell him that he was right like we all thought she would? NO. Did she at least THANK him for his wisdom? NO. Instead she walked right past Aang and HUGGED Zuko!! Furthermore, Zuko acknowledged Aang's wisdom on KATARA'S behalf!

6) Apart from all of this wonderful Zutara action, the most IMPORTANT part of the episode is what Zuko says at the end: "So what are you going to do when you have to face my father?". Aang has been preaching about forgiveness throughout this entire episode without knowing how difficult it really is. This shows us that he truly DOESN'T understand how the world works and that he still has a lot of growing up to do. Just as Zuko said "this is the real world". Life isn't always peaches and roses; sometimes you'll have to make difficult decisions that conflict with your morals, just like what Katara had to do. Aang compared Katara's loss to losing Appa and his fellow Air Nation people, but what he failed to understand is that losing a pet (regardless of how beloved the pet may be) is much different to losing your mother. Aang never knew his biological parents as he was completely raised by monks without a significant mother figure in his life. Therefore, he won’t be able to understand Katara’s pain or why she feels that revenge is justifiable in this situation. Another thing to note is that Aang mentions the pain of losing his fellow monks, but if you remember correctly that was HIS fault to begin with! He knew his destiny. He KNEW what was expected of him and he KNEW that the war was coming long before it had actually begun and yet he STILL chose his selfish desires over the safety of the world. How is this any different to what Katara WANTED to do? But Zuko understands that pain and I think the reason he was so hostile towards Aang is because what he said struck him too. Zuko has carried the pain of losing his mother for a long time, much like Katara and I’m certain that Zuko knew that his father had something to do with it. So for Aang to suggest forgiveness angered Zuko as well because he carries that same rage and pain that Katara has carried all her life and both of them are who they are because of what happened to their mothers. He wasn’t defending just Katara but also himself.

Overall this was a FANTASTIC episode and I loved every minute of it! It was all that I was expecting of Zutara and more! Of course you must applaude the racey sexual innuendo that Bryke included :XD:. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that and couldn’t stop laughing at Zuko’s reaction lol :XD:. Most of what we Zutarians have been claiming came true and to see that occurring on screen gives me a joy that is inexplicable.

I quickly wanted to comment on the Ember Island Players trailer that we saw directly after the Southern Raiders episode. Many people are getting worried about what Katara tell Aang in that scene so I just wanted to point out a few things before we all just jump to conclusions:

1) So far, most of the trailers and previews that we’ve been receiving from Nick have been manipulated in some way to make it LOOK like a certain situation will occur when in actuality what we expect does not occur at all. Just like the backwards DOBS kiss in Katara’s trailer a few days ago I have a feeling that this is being played backwards too or it’s not quite in the right order.
2) Think about it. If Katara truly loved Aang and “the man of her dreams” just confessed his undying love for her, WHY in the world would she say “this isn’t the best time”?!!! What is she expecting? That depending on Aang’s survival on Sozin’s Comet that she’ll possibly consider going out with him?! There’s a good chance that Aang might not survive or that SHE might not survive. So if she truly reciprocated his feelings, wouldn’t she have kissed him back or something ANYTHING other than “this isn’t the best time”??
3) Also if you take a closer look Katara has her arms crossed in an uncomfortable manner. Her body language shows that she is uncomfortable and probably doesn’t want to talk about the subject at hand. Crossing your arms usually gives people the impression that you’re closed off OR that you’re feeling uncomfortable and something is bothering you. Either way, both her body language and her facial expression emit a negative signal.
4) Aang yet again resorts back to his immature ways as he childishly says “When IS the right time?”. He’s forcing himself on her again, thinking only of HIS feelings and not hers. If he truly loved her and cared about her, he would respect her feelings and give her the space that she needs. And in all reality, if by this time she STILL hasn’t returned Aang’s feelings, chances are she never will.
5) We still don’t know the context of that conversation. We have a good idea, but we still haven’t watched the full episode yet so we can’t be certain on how their conversation began or what Katara was going to say afterwards. So far now all we can do is sit back and wait till the episode airs, which thankfully isn’t too long from now lol.

So keep believing in Zutara my fellow Zutarians because our ship is alive, kicking, and better than ever!

Wow! That is very interesting that you switched, but what exactly do you want to in that field? I'm sorry I don't know much about Pharmacology, but what can you do with studying the effects of medicine on the human body?

:D Don't worry, you weren't the only one who was disturbed by the fact two siblings were pretending to be married to each other. And you are SO right! For all their claims of being a "canon ship", Kataangers don't really have that much evidence and basically use the same arguments that don't make sense. Besides the whole "Aang loves Katara so she must love him back" argument that ticks me off to no end, is Kataangers' excuse that pairings like Zutara don't happen and aren't realistic, when in fact there are SO MANY pairings that are similiar to Zutara (in shows and real life) and happened, it's ridiculous. I could name them all but then this response would be a VERY long one. Besides Pride and Prejudice, Beauty and the Beast (thank you Snowbellan for pointing that out), Romeo and Juliet, there's also Bulma and Vegeta from Dragonball Z, that every Dragonball Z fan would tell you about.

As for Azula, I feel like there's a 50/50 chance of her redeeming herself. I think she will have a moment of truth but then make the mistake like Zuko did in CoD , except the consequences of her actions will be more grave.

The Nick execs are definitely a bunch of greedy assholes that only care about the mindless dribble they broadcast, produce, and advertise (*growls* that damn Spongebob and iCarly) and mistreat the shows that bring them money and audiences that span beyond the targeted age group. It's a shame that Nick pushes their good shows to the side for their frickin' stupid ones like Spongebob (I'm sorry, I now have a new animosity for that yellow sponge ever since that godforsaken hiatus). Now I understand how the Danny Phantom fans felt along with the other fans of the dozens of good shows Nick mistreated all for Spongebob. And parents wonder why kids today have a short attention span.

I actually find it funny now that people were claiming and supporting the interview as legitimate evidence when Bryke didn't even acknowledge the book's existence. And I do agree with you that if this book was released after the finale, no one would have paid it any mind (well except the Kataangers and Maikoans :D). The whole fandom went crazy because of the book's release date and the fact the adaptor had the nerve to claim the interview was "exclusive".

It is very sad that Kataangers are sinking to such a level to support books as their evidence of being canon when if they truly believe that their ship will happen, then they shouldn't support these books. Btw, I heard that the author of the new book put: "the first ORIGINAL Avatar story" which basically shows right there that the book is nothing more than a consolation of a fanfic. Let's hope the Kataangers, Maikoans and Tokka fans are happy enough that they won't get pissed during and after the finale. Hey, Bryke DID promise that everyone will be happy. :D

I did see the new commerical and I was spazzing and SO worried about Zuko but at the same time knew that Katara will save him and go apeshit on Azula. And I compeltely agree with you that if Maiko was meant to be a prevailing ship then Zuko would've risked his life to save Mai (since he, supposedly, is TOTALLY in love with her*sarcasm*) when she did the same thing for him, but instead he risked his life, letting a bolt of lighting hit his heart which Iroh specifically told him to not let that happen, for KATARA . Speaks volumes to me. And when it comes to Maiko, the only Maiko I'll support is Maikoh(Mai/Koh, the Face-Stealer). The PERFECT relationship for Mai.

That is actually a good theory and I never thought of that. It is symbolic to have actions reflected in eyes of a "cold-hearted" person and a "kind-hearted" person. First Azula with shooting down Aang in CoD and Katara with Azula shooting down Zuko in the finale. Btw, I noticed that in two of the finales, both Cod and Sozin's Comet(the TV finale), two of Katara's potential love interests are injured/almost-killed by Azula.

Six Degrees of Separation and Stranger Than Fiction? I heard about them, but never seen them. Why you ask?

Awww! Np!! :aww: Pharmacology is a fascinating career as well. When I first started college I was quite set on getting a medical degree and becoming a doctor, but soon found the affects of artificial ingredients (medication) on the human body more intriguing so I switched :P.

:wow: Really?? That is VERY interesting indeed :D. Although the idea of Sokka posing as Katara's "husband" is mildly disturbing, the foreshadowing behind this wonderful piece of evidence is what really matters. It ties in PERFECTLY with the Blue Spirit episode when Katara was wearing a crown conveniently ornamented with two dragons, which is a symbol for not only the Fire Nation but also Royalty. I mean the list of Zutara evidence goes on and on when Kataang has NOTHING to show for themselves (atleast nothing legitimate). Oh I definately agree about Avid's latest ZEFID video! Probably the best one yet!

Those were my thoughts precisely! I love The Beach episode for that reason (among others; i.e. shirtless Zuko ;) lol) because it shows us a completely different side to Azula that we've never seen before. I truly feel that they did this to show us that she is capable of human emotions and that she's not as cruel as her father. This will be the gateway for her metamorphisis or at the very least, acceptance of truth.

Nick has been pressed for time lately, why? Because those greedy assholes took on more than they could handle and now one of the BEST shows to ever grace their juvinille channel is suffering. Not that I mind 6 consecutive days of new ATLA episodes, but this isn't how I thought it would end: Nick spewing all the episodes out as if it's worthless. They ruined the experience of watching new episodes to a certain extent. Everything feels rushed and that's not how I expected this network to treat it's #1 show. But atleast we have the fandome to make it all better lol :).

EXACTLY!! I agree with all your arguments, particularly the one about Zuko and Katara being bf/gf. It has never been confirmed before the finale that they're bf/gf (thought they will be after the finale ;)). Only ONE person has ever mentioned them being a couple thus far and that's Jun. But even then, Zuko and Katara neither confirmed or denied it. So for this interviewer to insinuate such an argument in his question shows that A) He really doesn't know much about the show or B) He's a complete idiot that didn't understand a THING even if he watched the show. Whoever doctored that interview just rushed through the response making sure that they "crush" Zutarians hopes every where, which in turn completely gave away the invalidity of the interview. Speaking of which, if that man had really interviewed Bryke, wouldn’t Nickelodeon AND Bryke support the book and sell it on their webpage? The LEAST they would do is promote the book for the sake of the interview, but NO! They haven’t publicly acknowledged the book in any way so that automatically falsifies everything that is in this book. The reason so many people went in a frenzy was because of the release date of this book. I bet you anything if this book was released AFTER the finale, no one would’ve cared for it.

 WOW! It's rather sad how Kataangers ditched the show and began supporting cheesy pathetic books like these just because they ended in their favored ship. Shows what sore losers they are . Speaking of this book, I thought Katara was already supposed to be in "love" with Aang >____>. Unless it's set BEFORE SC in which case it can't POSSIBLY be cannon info because we've already seen those episodes and nowhere is it indicated that she's in "love" with Aang. Oh well, I hope this fanfiction on fancy paper makes the Kataangers and Tokka fans happy because they're never going to see it on the show :XD:.

Btw have you seen the latest commercial?? The one where Zuko is all blooded up with Katara running to save him? OMG! I SPAZZED SOOO MUCH lol. One of the things that I immediately noticed is that it is directly related to when Azula was about to shoot down Mai in Boiling Rock. So far, Azula has shot down/attempted to shoot down three very significant people and two of them being Zuko’s potential love interests. If Maiko were really the endgame ship (*shudders at thought*) then Zuko would’ve gone back for Mai (especially after she saved his ass >__>;) and risked his life to save Mai, but he didn’t. In fact, he didn’t even THINK about Mai after he left her indicating that he had completely moved on with his life by that time. Even the situation was set up in a way where there was no way for Zuko to come back and save her even if he wanted to. But now as Azula shoots lightning at Katara he risks his life to save hers. If you look at the latest trailer, his wounds are pretty bad and there is a pool of blood near his heart. For anyone to take THAT kind of blow for another human being can only be done out of LOVE.

Also, it’s very interesting how when Azula shot Aang in Ba Sing Se the image of his falling down was reflected in her eyes and now when ZUKO takes the shot for Katara, the image of him going down is reflected in KATARA’S eyes. That’s a very significant use of symbolism. I believe that the reason Aang’s defeat was reflected in Azula’s eyes is because Aang is the one threat to the fire nation and the gateway for Azula’s triumph. Watching him fall to his “demise” is like the ultimate victory for her. It displayed the pure negativity of her character and what she’s capable of, whereas with Katara she saw the one person that she’s ever loved (besides her family and friends) fall trying to protect her. Both situations have an aura of “coldness” about it but in two very different perspectives. Also, just as Iroh had said in Bitter Work episode, lightning is a cold-blooded killer. One must detach all their emotions in order to produce it. So, considering the symbolic representation of lightning, I feel that it is very signficant that both exudes an aura of “coldness”: one of emotional detachment (Azula) and one of fear (Katara). And the fact that Azula is perceived to be a “cold-hearted” person and Katara to be “warm” person also plays an important role. I know it’s a rather simplistic interpretation of the symbolism presented in that scene but it’s 11:13pm right and I’m extremely sleep deprived =______=. So consider this my half-baked theory lol :XD:

Btw… have you ever seen the movie Six Degrees of Seperation or Stranger Than Fiction? :)

Yes, International Affairs is an amzaing career and I do like the aspect of understanding current political situations and learning about different cultures the most. You welcome, and pharmacology sounds interesting too and thank you for the compliment. :aww:.

Exactly! Zutara would be a much better ending for the show and help bring the Four Nations together. What better way to bring peace than an interracial (or is international in the AtLA world?) marriage, especially between the country who instigated the War and another Nation who has suffered the most (besides the Air Nomads). Speaking of marriage, remember the episode, "The Headband"? Anyway, though the episode seems to be filled with Kataang hints, I found out some Zutara hints in there as well (or rather I heard through the grapevine). Anyway, remember when Sokka and Katara posed as Aang's parents? And Sokka called himself "Wang Fire"? Well, I heard from other Zutarians that Wang means "King". So Sokka was calling himself "King Fire" (or let's change it to Fire Lord) while being "married" to Katara. Foreshadowing, perhaps? :mwahaha:

Lol, don't you made sense and I did watch the latest ZEFID episode (now, my most favorite video) and I definitely agree with you that Ursa may return to serve the purpose of showing Azula the possible consequences of her actions and her possible wrong decision and realize that her father is not what she believes him to be. I believe this may be so, because of the "The Beach" episode where we saw another side of her, and saw that maybe she was pining for her mother's love and attention and was angry that her "weak" and "worthless " brother got it. So, it would be perfect for Azula to have a nightmare about her mother, the "cause" of her emotional problems, warning her.

Yep, it a pathetic attempt by Nick to scare us Zutarians and make us think Kataang was endgame. :roll eyes: If they wanted to really have us nervous, then they SHOULDN'T use the friggin' DoBS kiss and play it backwards, but use a clip that DOESN't have Katara looking uncomfortable, pulling back or have Aang the only one intiating the kiss. Oh wait, they can't use a clip like that, because there aren't ANY clips that fit the requirement. :D

When I first read the interview, at first I was pissed, but then I found a LOT of things that were wrong with. I noticed the same things that you noticed and addressed in your essays and also some other things as well.

1. The fact that the guy doesn't even go into an explanation about what is Kataang and Zutara, which doesn't make sense. When you think about it, this book is addressed to 6-8 year olds who watch the show and probably have no idea about shipping, so it would be logical to add keynotes or something explain what Zutara and Kataang is. But no, this interview just talks about the two ships as though the kids are supposed to know what Bryke is talking about.

2. The whole "Dark Side of the Moon" title. When I read the interview, I thought: "Wait a minute, didn't I hear that this title was the old title for "The Puppetmaster"? Another thing that I found off about the interview.

3. One of the questions was: "There were several allusions to Katara being Zuko’s girlfriend throughout Season Three. Aside from Uncle Iroh, she seemed to be the first person to see the potential for good in Zuko. Was there ever a spark between the two? Was there ever a point at which you thought they would end up together"? Okay. first off, Katara and Zuko were NEVER boyfriend and girlfriend and hell, even as a Zutarian I will admit that. Two, the two didn't even have contact with another for half of Season Three, so where the hell is the guy is coming from? Sounds like to me, the guy was afraid his beloved Kataang wasn't happening and decided to add it in there and come up with this question to justify is crappy and pathetic ending.

Anyway, those are just my thoughts. Btw, did you hear about this [link] Apparently, another idiot decided to write another fanfic to please Kataangers and, this time, the Tokkaners. It's called Love Potion 8 . You can check out the summary at ShirtlessZuko's journal.

I don't know to find it sad or funny, but the Kataangers are taking this book seriously as well, just like Sozin's Comet and claiming it as a piece of canon evidence.

Wow that sounds like an amazing career! Very intricate, complex, and fast-paced! You are extremely intelligent so I am certain that you will successfully kick ass in this career! :highfive: :D What I like about International Affairs (now that I know more about it lol) is that it brings awareness to the current political situations at hand, thus broadening your horizons. Thank you for educating me about these careers ^__^. I think you've chosen well and you will definitely go far. :)

Hehe it's okay, at times I get The Guru episode confused with the CoD episode as well. Probably because both episodes were dealing with the same situation, The Guru being Part 1 of the Season 2 Finale and CoD part 2. You are absolutely right! EVERYONE in the Gaang has had to sacrifice something in their lives to help Aang end the war so it's only fair for Aang to contribute to it as well. Also, ending the show in Zutara would tie the show together. What better way to show that peace has finally reigned over the four nations than the Fire Nation (the very country that STARTED the war) and Water Tribe becoming allies through marriage between Zuko and Katara? In fact, the Prince of the Fire Nation and the Water Tribe "peasant" bonding in a union of marriage will show that the Fire Nation (well at least the Royal Family) is ready to move past the destruction and create an era of placidity. Katara's ability to instill hope in others (as well as heal) and Zuko's ability to protect his people will create the perfect King and Queen for the newly reformed Fire Nation. Whereas Kataang wouldn't help the situation at all. I mean Katara and Aang have been traveling together since the very first episode, how would their union change anything after the war? It would be just like it was when they first met: no change, no chemistry.

I completely agree. Hmm.. Sounds like Karma lol. Azula is slowly losing everything she was confident would always be with her.. Sounds like Kataangers don’t you think ;). And Zuko is gaining everything towards the end, when it really counts, sounds like Zutara :D. Speaking of which, I just watched Avid’s latest ZEFID video about Nightmares and Daydreams and how they connect to Zuko and Aang’s destinies and during a particular part in her video she mentions how Zuko has finally made the right decision of joining the Gaang and therefore abolishing any chances of his nightmare coming true. The reason I’m mentioning this is because I have a feeling that the presence of Ursa being re-introduced into the show as that “nightmare” for Azula. A faint reminder of her destiny if she continues to choose the wrong path and just how Zuko initially rejected the premonitions of his nightmare, I have a feeling Azula will reject the warnings in her “nightmare” as well. Also, in The Beach episode, we got to see a completely different side to Azula; a more endearing less pretentious side to her that we've never seen before. Clearly, it was to show that deep down she's just a normal teenager like everyone else and has socially awkward moments and trouble talking to boys; I think we were shown this for a reason. This gives us a more human approach to Azula and makes the possibility of her realizing her mistakes more plausible. I’m not sure if I’m making sense but it’s just something I realized because in all 3 character’s nightmares they either face their biggest fears or something they have been struggling with for years (i.e. For Zuko it was joining the Avatar; Aang letting go of Katara). So, perhaps the appearance of Ursa towards the finale of the series is a chance for Azula to finally make the RIGHT decision and realize the cruelty of her father?

When I first saw the trailer my heart jumped for a split second at the possibility of Kataang really happening, but then I listened to what Katara said in the trailer and immediately calmed down lol. I believe she says something along the lines of “I never thought that we would be this close”. EXACTLY! She NEVER thought that Aang would care for her that way. She has always assumed that they were best friends and THAT’S IT. Nothing more. And it’s rather pathetic how they had to use the DOBS clip BACKWARDS to get their “ominous” message across >___>. I would wonder why they didn’t use the EIP clip but that would completely ruin the ending for that episode which isn’t supposed to air till Friday the 18th. Nice try Nick, but we Zutarians aren’t that stupid. There’s a reason Bryke calls us “;passionate and persistent” lol.

Speaking of Bryke, I forgot to mention in my previous comment about my thoughts on the SC interview. So here it is :D! I personally think that the interview is a “fake” OR that it is not completely real. The reasons for that is presented in the following:

1) The very first question addresses Zutara and why it DIDN’T happen. And what was “Bryke’s” response? “Sorry to disappoint the ‘Zutara’ fans out there, but we never intended for Zuko and Katara to get together.” Bryke would NEVER tell one of their fans (especially a CHILD) that they were stupid for believing in Zutara. Even if it wasn’t intended or whatnot, why in the world would they insult HALF their demographic just because they believed in the “wrong ship”? These fans have given them tremendous business by buying their products and spending the money to go visit them at Comic Cons across the nation! They would be committing business suicide if they insulted the very people that helped bring them success.

2) Many of their interpretations for various characters are kind of ..off. For instance, when the interviewer asks why Sokka loses his boomerang to save Toph Mike says “These are just two ordinary objects, but over the course of the series Sokka (and the audience) have formed an emotional connection to them. So when he loses them in order to save Toph, it really feels like a sacrifice.” This completely contradicts the ending of SC book as well as the supposed “ending” for the show if the previous response was real. True, they do believe in sacrifice for the greater good, which is why Aang has to sacrifice his attachment to Katara, but if the series ended in Kataang then their idea of sacrifice completely contradicts the theme of the show. I personally feel that the “adaptor” for this book twisted their words to fit his pathetic ending for his book. So he merely altered the interview to his own liking, just like he ALTERED the actual ending for the show.

Even if there was a slim chance that this interview is real and is just outdated, then he clearly used it to justify his desired ending for the show. Kind of like saying “well THIS is how it should’ve been”. In any case, we are CERTAIN that this book is not real and has never been real. :D

Possible careers in International Affairs? You can be a diplomat (you get to take political courses and cultural courses in order to understand the politics and culture of other countries), a lawyer for immigrant rights or international policies (you can alo take law courses as well. Also, my father knows someone who has a son that is a lawyer who is involved international affairs. I forget what exactly he does), work overseas for a foreign business company, work as a interpreter or translator. As for art, you can be an artist, designer, design adverstisements for companies, illustrator, cosmetologist, sculptor, photographer, etc.

Oh yeah, I actually meant to say the Guru episode is where I lost my respect for Aang, not Crossroads of Destiny (I always manage to get these two mixed up). I actually did not notice that, but now that I watched the episode again and heard that, I agree it is foreshadowing. And I agree with you about Katara. She agreed to go with Aang because, with her help, Aang can save the world that has been embroiled in war for so long and bring the peace she always hoped for. Many times, she made sacrifices because she cares more about others' need and Aang's mission to save the world. In the Bato of the Water Tribe episode, she and Sokka chose not to go with their father because it was more important to help Aang, despite the possibility that father could get captured or killed and they will never get to see him again.

That would make me very happy if Toph of all people, gives Aang a verbal lashing to straighten him out. Yet, I believe, most likely, her face getting taken by Koh, might have to snap Aang out of it.

Actually, when you think about it, about each and every member of the Gaang made some type of sacrifice to help Aang. Sokka and Katara left their village, Toph left her parents (despite being overbearing parents, she does love them), Zuko left his princely status and a country that has suffered through imperialistic propoganda and brainwashing and believes him to be a traitor. Kataangers talk about it is unfair for Aang not to have Katara because it would break his heart. In my opinion, I think it is unfair that Zuko, Katara, Sokka, Toph, Yue (who sacrificed her life to become the moon and help her people) and many others contributed in the effort to end the war with their own sacrifices, but it's okay for Aang to escape this lesson and theme all because the creators (if they choose to end the show in Kataang) and audience feel as though he suffered enough and "deserves" the girl, just because he has an obssesive crush on her?

Well, that is a plus to have the book. You can see the "spoilers" with your own eyes, but $5 could have been used to buy a lot of things that are worth more than that crappy fanfic.

In a way, I kinda feel bad for Azula because despite being her best efforts to be her father's favorite and the "darling" of the Fire Nation, she is truly alone. When I think about it, what Azula lost, Zuko gained. Azula lost her friendship with Ty Lee and Mai, Zuko gained friendship with the Gaang. Zuko lost his mother and his father's "love" and respect, he gained a parent figure in Iroh, while Azula lost her mother and soon her father's "love" because of his selfishness and greed. Zuko found his peace of mind, Azula is losing her mind.

I did see the trailers when ShirtlessZuko posted the links in her journal. I didn't believe for a second that Kataang could be endgame. I thought the trailers were basically Nick mindfucking the fandom, because I noticed they only showed the DoBS kiss (and played it backwards, I believe) and not the kiss from the NYCC trailer (the one with Katara pulling back). Also, I remembered the fact that voice actors are paid (sometimes) to say things for commericals pertaining to the show in order to narrate or play with the audience. Same case with this commerical in order to make it look like Kataang will be the prevailing ship.. I'm glad they didn't show a Zutara commercial, because then that will be suspicious.

Btw, with all these commercials and episode information coming out, the Sozin's Comet comic is looking very invalid and the interview is proven to be very old. Anyway, I was wondering, why did the adaptor guy used an old interview? What do you think?

That's awesome! If you don't mind me asking though.. what do careers in International Affairs and Studio Art entail? As in, what do they do? I apologize for my lack of knowledge in these fields but I was just curious. They sound like great careers, that's why I wanted to know. ^____^

Pssh! Aang made my shitlist way back in The Guru episode. I seriously wanted to THROTTLE him in that episode! My friend once mentioned that during the part where Guru Pathik is insisting for Aang to let Katara go there's a scene where Aang gets a vision of Katara being captured by Azula and Katara cries "Let me go!". So perhaps that was a foreshadowing of the upcoming episodes where Katara (and possibly the Gaang) finds out the truth behind his locked chakra and why he can't open it? But I know for certain that Katara wouldn't be too happy to know that Aang is willing to sacrifice the lives of millions of people just for her. The only reason she even joined him on this journey was because it gave her a chance to do something about the war instead of sitting in her little hut moping about how her village and family is suffering. She joined to SAVE people and if she ever found out that Aang is jepordizing that, she is going to be extremely disappointed with him. Even Kataangers have to open their eyes and admit to that.

Omg! I never even realized that for some reason. You have a very detail-oriented mind my friend! ^___^ I think Toph did know that he was lying but I think she chose not to press the subject because clearly it was something he didn't feel like sharing with everyone and she's got the maturity and understanding to to not force something out of someone (unlike Aang). But it would be completely awesome if Toph called out on Aang, especially if he's being a douche about Zuko and Katara and what happend in the caves.

Part of me is glad that I bought the book because it gave me the opportunity to see all these "spoilers" with my own eyes as well as find clues and hints to the validity (or lack thereof) of this book. But the other part of me feels the same as you do, that I could've spent that $5 (plus S&H T___T) on some nice earrings at Amuse of even a Big Mac and McDonald's than this piece of crap.

I agree with your theory about Azula. I too feel that she has bottled up her emotions regarding her mother and losing her best friends, her brother, and soon being betrayed by her own father. Ozai conveniently made Azula Fire Lord right before the Avatar is supposed to knock on his door and defeat him. Azula is not stupid enough to believe that this decision was made without any ulterior motives, so I feel that this is also a contributing factor to her insanity. Since she was a child she prided herself on being her father's favorite and trusted his "love" for her, but to find out that the one person whom she thought she could trust is ready to let her die just to save himself must also take a toll on her sanity. It's as if everyone she's ever trusted is slowly betraying her. She's truly alone.

Btw.. have you seen the new trailers on Nick? The one for Katara and Aang? Aang: [link] Katara: [link] Check it out and tell me what you think! ^____^ It SEEMS like Kataang but you and I both know that it's NOT. ;)

Lol, I know you trying to reply on time and it's okay . Don't worry about it. What I'm majoring in? I'm majoring in International Affairs and (possibly) Studio Art (my father thinks I should minor in Art but I'm the one in college not him).

Aang is currently treading the border between my "an okay character" list and my shitlist right now. Honestly, he started losing my respect for him ever since "The Crossroads of Destiny" episode. Btw, I just realized something in "The Awakening" he said he couldn't open the seventh chakra because Azula attacked him and you can see on his face that it was not true (which means he was lying) and he was saying all this to Toph. So, wouldn't Toph know he was lying since she can tell if someone is lying or not (with the exception of Azula). I know Toph just said that Aang's explanation was "spiritual mumbo jumbo" or something along those lines. So, wouldn't it be great if Toph called out on Aang on lying to her and the rest of the Gaang in one of future episodes? Just a thought.

I'm glad the book didn't end with Zutara, because the adaptor probably would have made it crappy beyond reason and would have meant that the TV series finale ends in Kataang. Kataangers get the awesome TV finale, we get a crappy book. That is something that would make me scream.

I actually don't own the book (thank god. I would have spent $5 that could have been spent elsewhere and I would have burnt it or destroyed it somehow and I don't need my family questioning my sanity anymore than they already have :D). But I did read all the events of the SC book online *eye twitches*. I do remember the first part where Zuko is telling Aang to roar like a tigerdillo. I thought that scene was lame, showed just how "credible" the book is (very little). And I was thinking the same thing too, that Zuko would not spend the little precious time they have until the comet comes just to teach Aang animal sounds (and honestly, a TIGERDILLO? The adaptor couldn't be even creative enough to come with a decent animal hybrid?). Which, to me, shows that the guy didn't watch enough Avatar episodes and just wrote what he wanted, INCLUDING making the charcters OOC as possible. What did you think about the part where Katara saves Zuko and says "Thank you," and sounding so...blasé about it?

I didn't read Greenifyme's journal, but I intend to get to it. As for Azula, I really don't a clue, but I think it's either she quite insane at this point and we (finally) get to see some of the emotional turmoil she's been carrying since she was young and her mother disappeared (I thinks she was confused and saddened by Ursa's disappearance like Zuko, but she always hidden these emotions) or maybe...Ursa visits her and then Azula goes insane? I'm not really sure, but I was just as crious as you when I saw that scene in the trailer. What are your thoughts on it?

Haha! Aww! *hangs head in shame* Yes.. I know.. I'm terrible at replying to comments on time :(. I'm trying to get better at it though.. see? This time I replied only after a day! :D lol j/k.

Oooo! An all women's college! That sounds interesting! :) Haha! Having a vixen as a mascot could be useful if your college teams play against guys in any of their games lol :XD:. Btw.. if you don't mind me asking, what do you want to major in? I'm currently majoring in Pharmacology and if everything goes according to plan then I should be starting pharmacy school by next year.

My patience is seriously wearing thin for Aang because of his utter selfishness. Sadly, it IS going to take Zuko's pep talk and poor Toph's face (and/or life) to knock some sense into that bald little douchebag. However, I'm glad that Katara will FINALLY let her feelings be known and hopefully clear things up for us once and for all! :D Yes, I did see the titles for the new episodes and interestingly enough I did NOT see Dark Side of the Moon on the list..hmm. And I thought SC was supposed to the ATLA bible and endgame for Zutara *sarcasm* lol. :XD: I'm actually happy that the book ended in Kataang because if it had ended in Zutara I would've been highly suspicious (albeit in mild denial) and truly worried for the finale. It would've meant that we would've gotten the book ending and those undeserving Kataangers would've gotten their TV ending -__-;;. But luckily for us, Bryke saw (intended?) the attraction of Zutara and how it brings the entire story together and perhaps even the injustice that we Zutarians have suffered through from day one.

I absolutely agree with your SC theory. Exactly! For a woman who was in desperate search of individuality, why in the world would Ty Lee agree to be part of another matched set?? Everyone in this book is OOC. I don't know if you have the book, but if you don't, there's a part in the first chapter where Zuko's teaching Aang firebending and he says "Let me hear you roar like a tigerdillo!"...>___>. It even continues on to elaborate his frustrations on Aang and his inability to "roar". First of all, Zuko would NEVER waste time telling Aang to "roar" when the comet is about to appraoch in less than two weeks (or however long they have till comet comes) or spend long periods of time worrying about Aang's "roaring". I mean this is just one example as how LAME and falsified this book is. It loses its credibility in the first page! :XD:

I have no problem believing that if the book HADN'T ended in Kataang, Kataangers would never have pledged their loyalty to it. But I'm done worrying about thier prejuidces (honestly, how is a young man and young woman falling in love so "impossible"??), let's get ready for the ULTIMATE Zutara week that's ahead of us. WOOT! I'm so pumped up for it! :D Btw.. have you read GreenifyME's journal? [link] She's trying to get Zutarians to celebrate a full week of Zutara the week before July 14th as a last chance for us to stand strong and show our Zutara pride! It's going to be AWESOME! :D

Also, do you have any thoughts on Azula and why she sees her mother in the mirror? I've been wondering about that since the release of the S3 Finale trailer lol.

~CQueenC17:iconCQueenC17: Jul 2, 2008, 5:28:39 AM
Yay! You replied! Yes, the campus is quite beautiful and the tour guide was really nice. Sweet Briar is an all women's college (at first I wasn't too happy with this fact, but I'm okay now), liberal arts and their mascot is the vixen :D (gotta love that).

And you are right, it is quite tragic for Azula. She really doesn't have anyone who really cares for her. Only has people who adore her for being a success to the Fire Nation, which is not real love at all. Also, I totally agree with you on the predictions on the new episodes. I have a feeling Aang will disappear because he is hurt by Katara's rejection and of course, he is going to act selfish and it might take Zuko's pep talk and God forbid, Toph getting her face stolen by Koh or almost/completely losing her life to get his head out of his ass and think of the world first. Btw, did you see the episode titles for the Season Finale? If you didn't, look it at here [link] (notice there is NO title called Dark Side of the Moon?)

Yes, I did see the trailer and I have at least watched it numerous times yesterday and probably some more today. All I have to say is, I now LOVE Bumi! Why? Because his presence in the trailer again show that Sozin's Comet is a badly-written fanfic (he wasn't mentioned AT ALL in the book). Speaking of which, I also have another theory concerning the legitimacy of thebook. In the book, it says that Ty Lee joins the Kyoshi Warriors. Now at first, it sounds like a perfect ending for Ty Lee, but if you remember from the The Beach episode, she said she has six sisters who exactly like her and the reason she joined the circus because she wanted to set herself apart and be seen as individual. So, wouldn't be somewhat out-of-character for her to join a group where all the members look alike? Anyway, just a theory of mine.

I understand how you feel. I hate it when the Kataangers and Maikoans say we should not get mad at the book and that adaptor guy, when we have all the reasons to be. First, half of our fandom and fellow Zutarians are chased away, second, he (the adaptor) tried to make his stupid fanfic look legit and totally endgame with a supposed interview that now only turns out to be a VERY old one and makes him look like an idiot who was trying to justify his arguments. And, last but not least, he wrote a VERY crappy finale that just defies all senses of logic and the sake of keeping the the characters true to their personalities. ("She's kissing me! She's finally kissing me!" Ugh, should Aang be wondering why Katara is kissing him?) I wonder what would happen if the book actually had a Zutara and Taang ending and the interview talked about the improbability of Kataang and Maiko:plotting:. Would the Kataangers and Maikoans still say that everyone should just accept the book and not get mad?

Anyway, let us not worry about the idiots but just ready ourselves for the oncoming episodes and when the Kataangers find out they get a crappy book for their ship, we get the TV series finale! :mwahaha:

 :glomp:  WELCOME BACK!! :D :D I missed spazzing with you! ^___^ How was the campus tour? Did you have fun? Was the campus as beautiful as it is said to be? I don't know too much about Sweet Briar College but it sounds like a great place! ^____^

I completely agree with your Zuko and Azula analysis! I also felt that Azula's immediate outrage at Mai was not necessarily directed at Mai but mostly at the fact that even after Zuko's apparant "betrayal" to his country and his temporary abdication of his title, people STILL care for him and are willing to help him despite his "mistakes". Azula dedicates herself to her country (albeit her intentions might not exactly be "pure-hearted" lol) and prides herself on being the embodiment of success in her father's eyes yet cannot instill the trust and love that her brother is capable of. I have a feeling she views it as unfair because she is technically adhereing to all the expectations that her country has of a Royal and yet she cannot find the simple satisfaction of sincere friendship. It's quite tragic.

I was thinking about the upcoming episodes this morning and I realized the possible outcomes of the future episodes.

1) Southern Raiders is supposed to be the episode where Zuko and Katara rekindle their bond and have the deeply anticipated "talk". Well I feel that in this episode Katara and Zuko finally discuss about what happend in CoD and both express their feelings towards that situation and why they did what they did.

2) In Ember Island Players, the actors will obviously exaggerate about what happend in the caves between Zuko and Katara which will force them to tell the Gaang about what REALLY happend in Ba Sing Se. I personally think that there was a lot more that happend between them in those caves than they let us on to believe because everytime they went back to the Zutara cave scenes in CoD, Zuko and got Katara got physically and emotionally closer and closer.

3) Aang will find out in EIP that Katara almost used the Spirit Water on Zuko and will choose to confess his feelings for Katara in fear of losing her. This is where Katara pulls back from the kiss and apologetically rejects Aang, which will cause Aang to be devestated and run away to either the mansion or somewhere nearby. Katara tells Zuko what happend (either voluntarily or coaxed into submission by Zuko) and Zuko confronts Aang and gives him the famous pep talk from the trailer. I also think that Aang will be highly suspicious of Zuko and Katara's relationship and will show some sort of animosity and jealousy to Zuko.

4) As we can see in the trailer, Aang isn't with the rest of Gaang during the better part of the finale so I think he leaves to defeat the Fire Lord on his own (or take care of some responsibility alone) because he needs to get over his hurt feelings towards Katara's rejection. It's going to take Aang some time to get over her and learn to let her go and I think it is during the finale when he manages to do that. After the war Aang realizes that Zuko and Katara really are perfect for eachother and comes to terms with his feelinngs for her.

Well that's my extremely shortened predictions :P lol. I know they're not very thorough but I didn't want to make this message longer than it already is lol. Btw.. have you seen the latest trailer for ATLA? It gives a sneak peek of future episodes. Check it out and tell me what you think :). [link]

I know! I really wanted to bash that asshole to the ground but I didn't want a long chain of bullshit from him so I just hid the comment instead. Besides, it doesn't matter how much evidence we show them, Kataangers will always be snobby arrogant idiots forever known as the ship that watched this amazing show with their asses blindfolded -__-;;. But thank you for your enthusiasm to defend our ship! After the finale airs we'll see who has the last laugh. ;)
